I created Gray Hour to share my photography and thoughts on its process and tools. The name references many photographers’ favorite conditions—blue hour and golden hour—while acknowledging that mornings and evenings here in the Pacific Northwest often bring only one kind of light: gray hour.

I am a film and digital photographer based in Portland, Oregon. I prefer the darkroom over Lightroom as often as possible, and my ongoing appreciation for analog processes has deeply influenced my tastes and relationship with photography. My photography focuses on form, geometry, and balance, within the the broader genres of urban landscape and travel photography. For me, the camera provides a dynamic invitation to pursue new experience, connect with strangers, and find beauty in unlikely places.
